3 out of 5 stars Where is the CD?   February 6, 2009

Reading the first few chapters of this book, I started asking myself "What is the real objective of this book?" If the objective is a study of a special VLIW architecture, certainly the book has not provided a good coverage of this area. However, if the objective is to document and publish the code, which is a commendable effort in itself, then why the authors have not provided this code on a CD to accompany the book?
The effort-saving and the potential benefits that can be obtained from acquiring this book are understandably praiseworthy and viable . However, I would be really happy, if the instruction set provided in this architecture was further justified for potential applications of such a machine. Furthermore, by not providing the code on a CD the interested reader will surely have a hard time typing it.
